Established through a transformational bequest from artist Lorraine (Lorry) Humphreys to support careers in the Arts and Trades.

The Lorry Humphreys Sub Fund was established in 2016 following the passing of artist Lorraine "Lorry" Humphreys, who left her estate - valued at over $1.4m - to the Stand Like Stone Foundation. Lorry’s final wishes were clear: her legacy should support scholarships and programs for people seeking careers in the arts and trades across the Limestone Coast.

Her bequest remains the largest individual donation ever received by Stand Like Stone and has already enabled many students to pursue their educational dreams. In 2018, two perpetual scholarships were launched in her name—the Lorry Humphreys Arts Scholarship and the Lorry Humphreys Trades Scholarship—each valued at $5000 and awarded annually.

These scholarships honour Lorry’s creative spirit and her belief in practical, hands-on careers. Stand Like Stone is proud to steward this sub fund in perpetuity, ensuring that Lorry’s gift continues to inspire and empower future generations of artists and tradespeople in our region.
