Monbulla School Hall Youth Support
Established to assist young people in the greater Penola Coonawarra region who face barriers to education or skills development.
Approximately 7km west of Penola on Clay Wells Road sits the old Monbulla School, built in 1894 to serve a closely settled farming community. At its peak, the school educated 34 students before closing in 1944. In the 1950s, the Monbulla Hall was built on the site and became a vibrant meeting place for the district.
Seventy years later, the site was no longer a hub for community life. In late 2023, the Monbulla School Committee made the difficult decision to sell the property—but with a clear intention: to ensure the proceeds continued to benefit the region.
After thoughtful discussions with Stand Like Stone, the Committee established two sub funds to honour the site’s legacy. The Monbulla School Hall Youth Support Sub Fund assists young people connected to the greater Penola Coonawarra district who need financial support to participate in education or skills development—whether through school, training, apprenticeships or other approved pathways.
The Foundation is proud to help ensure the Monbulla School continues to support the district for generations to come.

Back to School 2026 – Local generosity supporting Limestone Coast students

Community giving assists 15 community projects across the Limestone Coast
Just before Christmas last year the Stand Like Stone Foundation awarded $74,374 in grants for 15 community projects that will help support the region. Projects were varied and ranged from supporting school students from the Penola area to undertake accredited driving lessons, providing relief for families in need over Christmas.
Limestone Coast students provided with a funding boost for study in 2025
Stand Like Stone announces its annual educational scholarships. With the region’s students now back to school and university, Stand Like Stone are delighted to announce that 42 scholarships totalling $87,800 have been offered to students right across the Limestone Coast.
School vouchers support Limestone Coast families
Stand Like Stone Foundation distributed over 350 Back to School vouchers in 2025, helping Limestone Coast families purchase school essentials and supporting students' confidence, dignity, and sense of belonging at school.
