The Sue Charlton AM Memorial Sub‑Fund has been established with the Stand Like Stone Foundation to honour the life, service and legacy of Dr Sue Charlton AM – Founder, Patron and inaugural Chair of Stand Like Stone. This fund reflects Sue’s lifelong dedication to children, families, rural health and community‑led solutions.

Dr Sue Charlton AM was a deeply respected community leader, generous philanthropist and distinguished paediatric physiotherapist whose work spanned more than four decades in the Limestone Coast. She was passionate about early intervention, education and improving health outcomes for children and families, particularly in regional communities.

Across her professional and volunteer life, Sue consistently championed the belief that local people are best placed to create local solutions. This philosophy shaped her leadership of Stand Like Stone Foundation and guided her contributions to the broader community foundation movement across Australia.

The Dr Sue Charlton AM Memorial Sub‑Fund supports initiatives that promote healthy hip development in babies born in or connected to the Limestone Coast – an area closely aligned with Sue’s clinical expertise and academic research. In 2019, Sue completed her PhD focused on improving early identification of neonatal hip instability for infants born in regional South Australia, reinforcing her commitment to evidence‑based care and better outcomes for children.

By contributing to this fund, donors are helping to continue Sue’s legacy of compassion, leadership and service. Together, we can ensure her life’s work continues to make a meaningful difference for local infants, families and the wider community, now and into the future.
