The funding will support a diverse program of community events celebrating NAIDOC Week 2026's theme, 50 Years of Deadly, which recognises the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and honours those who have shaped generations of leadership, advocacy and cultural pride.

As auspice organisation for the grant, Stand Like Stone Foundation will provide governance, financial management and acquittal support to enable the delivery of a full week of community activities. The arrangement follows the foundation's commitment to supporting charitable activities that strengthen community participation, cultural knowledge and reconciliation outcomes.

Stand Like Stone chief executive officer Jason Wallace said the foundation was pleased to support a collaborative, Aboriginal-led approach to delivering NAIDOC Week activities in Mount Gambier and surrounds.

"We are proud to be part of the Berrin Reconciliation Action Group to help deliver a vibrant and diverse NAIDOC Week program for our region,” he said.

“This partnership demonstrates how shared local leadership, combined with the right support structures, can enable meaningful, place-based reconciliation events and outcomes for our shared community.

“We particularly acknowledge and welcome the Aboriginal-led leadership within BRAG and see this as a vital element of collaboration for our region, helping to strengthen a shared and supportive approach for not just NAIDOC Week, but over the longer term of working together as a community."

BRAG brings together Aboriginal community controlled organisations, Aboriginal community representatives, government agencies, businesses and community organisations to support reconciliation and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration. The group's work aims to ensure that local knowledge, cultural authority and lived experience remain at the centre of planning and decision-making.

This year's program features 11 events across the week, including cultural workshops, community gatherings, art activities, educational sessions, a community breakfast, trivia night, bush tucker experiences and opportunities to learn from Elders and community leaders.

For Stand Like Stone Foundation, the partnership aligns strongly with its commitment to supporting community-led initiatives that foster inclusion, strengthen relationships and create lasting social impact across the Limestone Coast.

The foundation looks forward to working alongside BRAG and its many partners to help deliver a successful NAIDOC Week 2026 and to continue supporting opportunities that bring communities together through respect, understanding and shared action.
