CORNERSTONE SCHOLARSHIP
The Cornerstone Scholarships were established in 2012 via a private donor and are provided for reasons of equity or merit to benefit kindergarten, primary, secondary or tertiary students identifying with the greater Bordertown area. Applications are invited from students with a connection to Bordertown and/or surrounding districts for study to be undertaken in 2019. The funding will be offered as scholarship/s of up $2750 and may be offered as several smaller scholarships to more than one student.

LE & NC MYERS SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship supports young people under the guardianship of the Minister or who have exited the guardianship of the Minister (foster care, kinship care and government care) to achieve their goals in vocational and tertiary education. Funding of up to $1100 is available from the LE & NC Myers Educational Scholarship Sub Fund and eligible students are invited to apply. The funding will be offered as scholarship/s of up $1100 and may be offered as several smaller scholarships to more than one student.
The above scholarship applications opened on 10 December 2018 and closeed at 5.00pm on 1 February 2019.
Scholarship applications will ONLY be accepted for courses being studied in 2019 or planning to be studied in 2019.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated by the Board of Directors or by an Educational Scholarship Advisory Committee who makes recommendations to the Board. The Board of Directors has final approval on the distribution of scholarships.
To ensure that informed decisions are made applicants may, on occasion, be requested to provide further information. Timing of decisions will be dependent on Board meetings. Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application. Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of enrolment before scholarship payments can commence.
The Foundation will publicly inform the community about scholarship decisions on the website, in our newsletter and via a media conference, community function or through a media release to local media outlets.

Applicants must complete the Educational Scholarship Application Form and enclose two signed letters of recommendation with the application from your referees. The referees should have direct knowledge of your educational ability, prospects and character.
Individuals can be nominated for a scholarship by another person.
It is strongly recommended that applicants read the Educational Scholarship Guidelines prior to completing the Application Form.

REPORTING ON USE OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
Students are ineligible to receive a further scholarship from Stand Like Stone unless the report on the use of the scholarship has been completed and returned to Stand Like Stone.

Stand Like Stone gives educational scholarships, which promote the recipients’ education through an approved Australian course. Stand Like Stone's Educational Scholarship Fund was established to provide money for scholarships, bursaries or prizes which promote the recipients’ education in a recognised pre-school, primary, secondary or tertiary course and are awarded on merit or for reasons of equity. Donations to the Educational Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.
How are scholarships awarded?
Scholarships are awarded on:

Reasons of equity (Examples of equity would cover students who are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage or hardship, or suffering disability. Other reasons may include special needs flowing from age, gender, ethnicity or geographic location.)

Merit (The basis of merit can be academic and can also include non-academic criteria where they are sufficiently connected with the educational objectives such as sporting or artistic ability where the sporting or artistic pursuit is part of the curriculum.)
SCHOLARSHIP AREAS OF INTEREST
A number of donors have made gifts to the Educational Scholarship Fund. These donors have indicated that they prefer the following areas of interest be supported by their gift;

L M Woodruff Memorial Scholarship - Provides scholarships to assist young women identifying with the Limestone Coast undertake a nursing career at any level. This scholarship can be given to a secondary student with an ambition to study nursing or can be given to a student entering tertiary study.

Mount Gambier High School Student Scholarship - Provides educational scholarships to students attending or enrolling at Mount Gambier High School. This includes current Mount Gambier High School students, primary school students who will be attending Mount Gambier High School or students who are moving from another school to Mount Gambier High School in the year that the scholarship applies.

Keith Area School Student Scholarship - Provides educational scholarships to students attending or enrolling at Keith Area School. This includes current Keith Area School students or students who are moving from another school to Keith Area School in the year that the scholarship applies.

Kingston Community School Student Scholarship - Provides educational scholarships to students attending or enrolling at Kingston Community School. This scholarship will be awarded on reasons of equity (as defined in ‘How are scholarships awarded’) to current Kingston Community School students or students who are moving from another school to Kingston Community School in the year that the scholarship applies.

Lucindale Area School Student Scholarship - Provides educational scholarships to students attending or enrolling at Lucindale Area School. This includes current Lucindale Area School students and students who are moving from another school or kindergarten to Lucindale Area School in the year that the scholarship applies. The scholarship can also be used to assist current or past students of Lucindale Area School to undertake further educational studies at a tertiary level - such as, but not limited to, University, TAFE and other approved courses.

Grant High School Student Scholarship - Provides educational scholarships to students attending or enrolling at Grant High School. This includes current Grant High School students and students who are moving from another school to Grant High School in the year that the scholarship applies. The scholarship can also be used to assist current or past students of Grant High School to undertake further educational studies at a tertiary level - such as, but not limited to, University, TAFE and other approved courses.

L T O’Connor Scholarship - Provides scholarships for reasons of merit (as defined in ‘How are scholarships awarded’) in the area of music to people identifying with the Limestone Coast to assist them in furthering their experiences and knowledge in music.

de Nys Family Memorial Scholarship - Provides scholarships for reasons of equity (as defined in ‘How are scholarships awarded’) for primary, secondary or tertiary students identifying with the greater Mount Gambier area.

Focis on Youth Scholarship - Provides scholarships to assist people identifying with the Limestone Coast to undertake educational studies at any level - primary, secondary or tertiary courses.

Stand Like Stone Scholarship - Provides scholarships to assist people identifying with the Limestone Coast to undertake educational studies at any level - primary, secondary or tertiary courses.

Penola Coonawarra Vititec Community Scholarship - Used to provide scholarships to kindergarten, primary, secondary or tertiary students with a connection to the greater Penola Coonawarra area. The scholarship was established upon the winding up of VITITEC which aimed to increase the knowledge of grape growing and viticultural techniques in the region.

Cornerstone Scholarship - Was first offered in 2015 and provides scholarships for reasons of equity or merit to benefit kindergarten, primary, secondary or tertiary students identifying with the greater Bordertown area.

SARWG Scholarship - Established via a donation from the Mt Gambier SA Rural Womens Gathering and supported by Women in Business and Regional Development. The SARWG scholarship was first offered in 2015 and provides scholarships to benefit rural women identifying with the Limestone Coast in the pursuit of their educational goals.

The Balnaves Foundation Scholarship - The Balnaves Foundation Educational Scholarship is provided for reasons of equity or merit to benefit kindergarten, primary, secondary or tertiary students identifying with the greater Penola area or the Limestone Coast. The scholarship will be awarded to assist with study, with a focus on young people, the disadvantaged and indigenous communities. It is preferable (but not essential), to award the scholarship to a student that has an interest in the region and the indigenous history of the area.

The LE & NC Myers Scholarship - The LE & NC Myers Educational Scholarship is provided for reasons of equity or merit to support young people under the guardianship of the Minister or who have exited the guardianship of the Minister to achieve their goals in vocational and tertiary education.

Lorry Humphreys Memorial Scholarship - Lorraine Humphreys passed away at the age of 84 in October 2015. She left her estate to Stand Like Stone to provide scholarships and programs for people seeking to pursue a career in the Trades and the Arts.
What can the scholarship be used for?
The scholarship can be used for:

Approved curriculum and courses at Australian educational institutions (such as pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools, higher education institutions and registered training organisations) that are approved or recognised by Australian educational authorities.

Related living and boarding costs
Who can apply?

Australian citizens or permanent residents (If successful you will be required to provide evidence of your Australian citizenship / permanent residency.)

People enrolled in or intending to enrol in a recognised course of study. This must be an approved curriculum and/or course at an Australian educational institution that is recognised by Australian educational authorities. The approved Australian course can be pre-school, primary school, secondary school or tertiary courses. Applicants who have commenced study prior to the opening of the current round will be considered however, successful applicants will only receive funding for study undertaken from the year of the scholarship onwards.

People with a connection to the Limestone Coast or a desire to live and work in the Limestone Coast now or in the future.
Scholarships will be advertised widely.
